Spain Publishes 16 Practical Guides to Support Compliance with the EU AI Act
The Spanish Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Agency (AESIA) has released 16 practical guides designed to help organizations comply with the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act).
These documents were developed as part of Spain’s AI Regulatory Sandbox, a pilot initiative aimed at facilitating the practical implementation of the AI Act by providing operational, non-binding recommendations aligned with the Regulation’s requirements, pending the adoption of harmonized standards applicable across all Member States.
The 16 guides are structured into three categories:
- Introductory Guides provide a general and practical overview of the AI Act, supported by explanatory materials and hypothetical use cases to illustrate how the rules apply in practice.
- Specialized Technical Guides focus on the legal and technical obligations applicable to high-risk AI systems, including conformity assessment procedures, risk management systems, data governance, transparency, human oversight, robustness, cybersecurity, and technical documentation.
- A Checklist-Based Methodological Guide enables organizations to assess their level of compliance, identify gaps, and structure a corrective action plan.
AESIA clarifies that these guides do not replace existing regulatory texts and will be updated as European standards are adopted and as legislative developments progress, particularly in the context of the Digital Omnibus Package.
